ESSAY: SHOULD ´´THE RIGHT TO DIE´´ BE CONSIDERED A RIGHT?

SHOULD ´´THE RIGHT TO DIE´´ BE CONSIDERED A RIGHT?

The term "right to die" refers to the idea that a person with a terminal illness and as put in serious condition should be allowed to commit suicide before death would otherwise occur also the concept is often referred to as dying without pain; but at the present time, competent people have right to end their own lives for different causes like: depression, recession, love´s problems and others.

The right to die should be considered a right only if it applies under certain circumstances such as terminal illness when recovery is highly unlikely or impossible for several reasons.

The first reason is that we have right to enjoy a good quality of life (being healthy, walking, playing, having a good relationship and the most important having a decent life), but when people are suffering all the time, they don´t have any opportunity to live, they have more than seven years in bed, they don´t have present and future. With all these reasons we wouldn’t have a good quality of life, then is necessary that doctors have to release pain of patients with the death, but only if the family take this decision otherwise doctors be blamed as a killer and may be accused to the court, the death for the family is very difficult, because it is certainly a hard thing to take up but people should think that ill people cannot be forced to live a life that is meaningless. The most important is that the ill patients have a dying without pain with dignity.

The second reason is that the ill patient don´t only suffer, the family also suffer at the same time. For example Maria had been diagnosed with lymphoma over 5 years ago, and after all the harsh chemotherapy treatments, was now in the final stages. Her only relief from the pain was the high doses of morphine that were regularly being pumped into her body, but this relief came at a high price, The cost of a hospital room, of medicines and medical tests were high, The family of the patient were bankrupt because of these medical costs and because all the singles days they went to visit Maria, and they couldn´t work because they spent time to care for the special needs. When the family visit their ill people, patients are tormented by the fact that they can hear words, feel touches, but are unable to respond, to give their family any small sign of comfort , I believe that they long to reach out and hug their parents sitting ever vigilant on either side of their bed and How they wish do something to ease the parent’s suffering as well as their own, because the family suffer when They talk, touch, and hold the patient even though he or she is in coma. Also is very difficult to watch a loved one in this condition but is more difficult to know that this person don´t have chance of recovery.

The third and most important reason is that many people who have a terminally ill want to live because they have many longing, dreams which they can´t achieve and I consider that they have right to die because ill people cannot be forced to live a life that is meaningless otherwise I believe that people who are healthy, don´t have any ill, but they want to end their life for different reason, they don’t have right to die, because all the things and problems have a solution without the death.

In conclusion, I believe that ´´the right to die´´ should be considered a right depend on the situation for example when the family turn off the life-support machines or to stop further medical treatment to people who have terminally illness or people who don´t have any opportunity of life, because death is not he greatest of ills: worse is to want to die and not be able to and don´t forget you that the death is an inescapable and inevitable part of the live cycle.
